Covington, Ind - Herman Orval Davis, 64, of Covington Route 3, died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday (June 10, 1975) at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been a patient one day and had been ill two years. Born Feb. 16, 1911 in Stringtown, he was the son of Ross Elmer and Maude Estel Hack Davis. He was married Aug. 9, 1937, to Myrtle Jane Evans, who survives. Mr. Davis was a life resident of Wabash Township. He was formerly employed at Harrison Steel and Fountain Foundry. He also had farmed for several years. Other survivors include five sons, Ron, Larry and Billy R. all of Veedersburg, Donald of Veedersburg Route 3 and Orval D. of Covington Route 3; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Ann Wigley of Covington Route 3; his mother of Covington Route 1; two brothers, Willard of Covington Route 1 and Edward of Cayuga; seven sisters, Mrs. Pearl Bassett and Mrs. Mildred Williams, both of Perrysville, Mrs. Lucille Ping, Miss Laura Belle Davis and Miss Doris Davis, all of Covington Route 1, Mrs. Alma Johnson of Eugene and Mrs. Faudiel Daniels of Mooresville; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery (Snoddy's). Friends will be received after 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
